Independent guide, not Anadi Bank. We never ask for banking logins or TANs. To bank, type anadibank.com yourself. Why we say this

Staying safe with online banking

Banks invest heavily in security, so fraudsters target customers instead. A handful of habits protects you against almost all of it.

Security and payments guide. Updated . About 2 minutes to read.

At a glance

  • Type the bank's address yourself; do not follow links in messages.
  • Approve only logins and payments you started yourself.
  • Keep your phone and apps updated and install apps only from official stores.
  • If in doubt, hang up and call the number on the official website.

Recognise fake bank websites

Phishing sites copy a bank's colours and logo and sit on addresses that look almost right: an extra word, a different ending, a hyphen. The only address you should use for Anadi is the one you type yourself, anadibank.com, or the official app. Be especially suspicious of search ads and links that lead to a 'login' page. Independent sites like this one never ask for your banking details.

Phone and messenger scams

A caller claims to be from the bank's security team, the police or a well-known tech company. They create urgency: your account is under attack, your money must be moved, an app must be installed. Genuine banks do not ask you to transfer money to a 'safe account', read out a TAN, or install remote access software at their request. End the call and ring the bank using the number on its official website.

Anadi does offer remote support (Fernwartung) through its customer care centre, but only in sessions you have arranged yourself through official channels.

Malware

Malicious software can read what you type or overlay fake screens on your banking app. Keep your operating system and apps updated, install apps only from official app stores, avoid sideloading, and do not open attachments you were not expecting. Anadi publishes its own guidance on malware and internet banking security on its official site.

Strong passwords

Weak passwords remain one of the most exploited gaps. Use a long passphrase that you use nowhere else, ideally stored in a reputable password manager. Length matters more than complexity: four or five random words beat a short string of symbols. Never reuse your banking password on shopping sites or email.

If something goes wrong

  1. Block your card through the bank's official card blocking service.
  2. Contact the bank using the phone number on its official website.
  3. Change your passwords from a clean device.
  4. Report the fraud to the police and keep a record of what happened.

The Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) also publishes information on recognising investment fraud and a list of warnings about unauthorised providers.
